Winemaking:
Duas Quintas Reserva Especial has been produced with grapes from 80-year-old vines at the Quinta do Bom Retiro and the Quinta da Urtiga which, once picked and placed in small containers, are placed in the granite troughs. At night, the grapes are trodden with the same rigour employed when making Port wine. They are then carefully processed in the trough to achieve a good extraction without losing elegance. Malolactic fermentation takes place in hogshead casks. The wine is then quickly transferred to French oak casks of two or three wines where it ages for 18 months. Stabilisation occurred naturally over two winters.
Grape Varieties:
Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Sousão, Tinta Cao, Tinta Amarela.
