Since 1997 the Herdade dos Grous located in Alentejo, near the city of Beja, Portugal, was acquired by the distinguished hotel group Vila Vita Hotels. Herdade dos Grous is an estate of 730 hectares and is a quiet space to relax and enjoy nature. In this property in addition to the hotel's exploration, the Herdade is gifted with unique characteristics in the heart of the Alentejo. In a succession of olive trees, cork oak forests, and vineyards, it is not surprising that here we find the production of one of the most awarded Portuguese wines, such as the red wine selected from the house, awarded as the best red wine from Alentejo region in 2004. The Herdade dos Grous, besides producing its wines, is dedicated to the breeding of horses, cattle and olive oil.
Winemaking:
The vinification of this Red Wine from Alentejo Herdade dos Grous Reserva has begun with the manual harvest and the manual selection of the grapes. After grapes arrived at the winery they were immediately cooled up to 10ºc. The musts were macerated for 25 days with the grape's skins and then subjected to a prolonged fermentation in lagares. The wine stayed16 months in new French oak barrels before went launched to the market.

Tasting Notes:
Herdade dos Grous Reserva it's a complex red wine from Alentejo and shows a dark purple colour with very structured aromas, dominated by the black and red fruits, exotic woods and spices notes. It reveals fine tannins with a fresh and pleasant final.
Store and Serve Advice:
Storage Lying down at a temperature of 15°C. Serve at a temperature of 16°C to 18ºC.
Castello D'Alba Grande Reserva Vinhas Velhas is a great red wine from the Douro Valley, which features lots of ripe red fruit aromas well-integrated into the wonderful notes of good wood. It spreads minerality alongside powerful tannins and an amazing acidity.
Horácio Simões Tradição is an intense and fruity red wine from the Palmela region. In the nose, aromas of wild fruits, black fruits, and currant predominate, together with well integrated wood notes. In the mouth, it is round, with marked acidity and persistent tannins. The finish is long and creamy.
Herdade de S. Miguel The Friends Collection is an imposing, austere red wine with a wide aromatic spectrum. It is dense, voluminous and with an extraordinary aromatic intensity, with ripe wild fruits, pine notes, spices and balsamic aromas. It is a great red, mineral, deep, fresh wine that ends in a very polished acidity.
José Piteira is an elegant, floral red wine, aromatically balanced and rich in fruit scents. It is a red wine that presents notes of wild red fruits, such as raspberries, berries and blackberries, fragrances of violets, velvety structure and very soft acidity.
Monte da Ravasqueira Touriga Franca is an intense, aromatic, velvety and complex red wine. It presents round and juicy tannins, with notes of very ripe black fruit, notes of Mediterranean pine forest, berries and herbaceous fragrances. It is a red wine of remarkable quality and impressive freshness.
Piteira Premium is an extraordinary red wine from the Alentejo wine region, rich and fruity. It is a red wine with complex and opulent aromas, highlighting ripe red fruit, berry and black plum notes, together with balsamic notes, silky tannins and balanced acidity.
