Cachaça Velho Barreiro has an intense vegetal aroma, much more so than most Cachacas. Ripe lemon peel, green apple, and pear drops create a crisp and fresh aroma. It has plenty of vegetal notes, very fresh and crisp but with a rounded flavour profile that lingers for an extraordinary length on the finish.

Velho Barreiro Aguardente de cana, known as cachaça of Barreirinho, is produced from sugar cane juice as with all Cachaca, it is double distilled before being aged in large oak vats for an unspecified time then blended and bottled in a delightfully old-school looking receptacle.
It is a real joy in a Caipirinha, where the citrus helps to highlight some of the woody notes and in the Batida Rosa where the pineapple works wonderfully in collaboration with the Cachaca’s flavour profile.
Caipirinha Recipe:
Mash 1 lime cut in quarters and 2 teaspoons of sugar in a glass; add 1½ cl of Cachaça Velho Barreiro and crushed ice; mix well.
Batida Rosa Recipe:
Blend 1½ cl Cachaça Velho Barreiro, ½ cl red currant syrup, 1½ cl lime juice and ½ cl simple syrup or 2 teaspoons of sugar in a cocktail shaker. Shake and strain into a wine glass filled with crushed ice. Complete with sparkling water. Garnish with pineapple.
