This Liqueur (literally, Liqueur of Shit) was created by Luís Nuno Sérgio, its creator, who said that he had a 20 liter bottle where he used to send the remains of other liqueurs he was making, and this compilation of remains was called Licor de merda, which, of course, had a variable flavor depending on the leftovers that were there.
It was created in 1974. Portugal went through a turbulent period marked by the struggle between politicians. In this context, the Liquor of Shit was created to "honour" some authorities who then ruled Portugal. Almost a joke (especially the name) has become a serious seller.
