1996 Niepoort Late Bottled Vintage Port is a beautifully balanced LBV port wine with ripe black fruit flavors that are in perfect harmony with an immensely concentrated core dominated by aromas of blackberries and cherries. Finishes in a polished acidity, soft tannins and slight sweetness.
Winemaking:
1996 Niepoort Late Bottled Vintage Port is produced from the blend of powerful, rich and fruity wines of a single year by the traditional Port wine's method. The grapes are tread in granite "Lagares", the wine is stored and it ages, in large oak wood vats, for a period of 4 years old and it is bottled in the same way as a Vintage Port Wine, without any prior treatment.
Grape Varieties:
Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinto Cão, Tinta Francisca, Tinta Amarela, Sousão, Tinta Roriz.
Tasting Notes:
Niepoort Late Bottled Vintage Port 1996 is an elegant, concentrated LBV Port with a core full of ripe black fruit aromas, soft acidity, and firm tannins. It has aromas of dried fruits, raisins, and sultanas, sweet plums, black cherries seasoned by notes of spices, cinnamon, and cocoa.
Store and Serve Advice:
Serving temperature at 15ºC-16ºC.
