Since 1997 the Herdade dos Grous located in Alentejo, near the city of Beja, Portugal, was acquired by the distinguished hotel group Vila Vita Hotels. Herdade dos Grous is an estate of 730 hectares and is a quiet space to relax and enjoy nature. In this property in addition to the hotel's exploration, the Herdade is gifted with unique characteristics in the heart of the Alentejo. In a succession of olive trees, cork oak forests, and vineyards, it is not surprising that here we find the production of one of the most awarded Portuguese wines, such as the red wine selected from the house, awarded as the best red wine from Alentejo region in 2004. The Herdade dos Grous, besides producing its wines, is dedicated to the breeding of horses, cattle and olive oil.
Winemaking:
The vinification of this Red Wine from Alentejo Herdade dos Grous Reserva has begun with the manual harvest and the manual selection of the grapes. After grapes arrived at the winery they were immediately cooled up to 10ºc. The musts were macerated for 25 days with the grape's skins and then subjected to a prolonged fermentation in lagares. The wine stayed16 months in new French oak barrels before went launched to the market.

Tasting Notes:
Herdade dos Grous Reserva it's a complex red wine from Alentejo and shows a dark purple colour with very structured aromas, dominated by the black and red fruits, exotic woods and spices notes. It reveals fine tannins with a fresh and pleasant final.
Store and Serve Advice:
Storage Lying down at a temperature of 15°C. Serve at a temperature of 16°C to 18ºC.
Júlio B. Bastos Alicante Bouschet is a red wine of enormous aromatic concentration and density from the Alentejo wine region. It presents a closed purple colour, with intense aromas of wild fruits, ripe black fruits, cherries and figs, spices and balsamic nuances. Zom Reserva is a fabulously fruity and juicy red wine from the Douro wine region that shows a deep and dark purple colour. It presents minerality in all its structure, scents of flowers as violets and jasmine, ripe dark fruit aromas alongside imposing and round tannins, great elegance and superb acidity.
Frei João Reserva is a full-bodied, dense and fruity red wine from the Bairrada region. It presents intense notes of ripe black fruits, fragrances of Mediterranean pine forest, spices and balsamic aromas. It is an elegant red wine, with juicy and ripe tannins and extraordinarily soft acidity.
Quinta Vale D. Maria Vinha da Francisca is a red wine that shows great aromatic intensity and complexity. It offers us intense notes of ripe red fruits, cherry, and plum. In the mouth, it is very elegant, with well-ripened tannins and extraordinary acidity. The finish is long and fruity.
